Consent to Participate in Rapid Antigen COVID-19 Testing
Raintree Montessori School continues to explore ways to mitigate safety risks associated with the spread of COVID-19. The school is partnering with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to provide daily (if applicable) rapid antigen (nasal swab) COVID-19 testing for students and staff 1) who have been identified as close contacts to a positive case, 2) are showing signs of COVID-19, 3) before embarking on a field trip or other extra-curricular activity, if recommended, or 4) as a precaution, such as returning from travel or from a holiday break.
Designated school staff will conduct the testing. The goal of COVID-19 testing is to keep students and staff safe and in school and participating in extra-curricular activities, if applicable; and to prevent the spread of the virus in our community.
Raintree Montessori School requires parent/guardian consent to participate in COVID-19 testing. Without consent, students and staff identified as close contacts after a COVID-19 exposure must quarantine for 10 days from the date of exposure, unless they 1) continue to show no symptoms and provide the school a PCR or antigen test or a note from the local health department as proof of testing positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days OR 2) show proof of a negative test done elsewhere (ex. home test) as outlined in Raintree’s communication about the applicable exposure.
If consent is not given and a negative test result is required to participate in an extracurricular activity, proof of a negative test from another COVID-19 testing site will be required.
